Gutters and euphemisms
If anyone feels like sending me any interesting stuff of gutters for my art project, then that’d be appreciated. Also, I realised that I can do my project about having my mind in the gutter, so feel free to send me interesting/hilarious euphemisms

may watch again in relation to my essay on the post modern image of the female in horror and sci-fi. (with subtitles next time)
but this is an interesting visual depiction on horror. the effects one can achieve through illustration and animation is so skilled!!
I shall have to watch this at somepoint *adds to list*

Looking For Group
Gah, why am I still reading Looking for Group? It’s so friggin’ awful.
Today’s one http://lfgcomic.com/page/551
It’s the dialogue feels all horrible and I don’t think I’ve laughed at anything in it for ages, despite it trying to be a comedy webcomic. I re-read it a little while ago, and even the bits I used to think were funny are almost ridiculously unfunny. Plus it’s made by the same guys as Least I Could Do, so maybe that’s why it’s a pretty awful read.
I think I’ll give up on reading it soon.

I like the tones used, but there’re a few things which irritate me.
Firstly, the pose.
I’m confused as to what she’s meant to be doing….she seems to be floating somehow (probably, because the artist has trouble foreshortening feet and so didn’t want to draw her standing on something) and her knees (which are rather tiny) are stapled together.
Also, is she surprised at something? Perhaps she’s shocked that her right hand is a weird colour, or she wasn’t expecting her cloak to stay on because it’s not attached to anything, it’s just sitting on her shoulders. Maybe she was expecting to have some arrows on her back which is why she’s reaching behind herself (although that would still look slightly weird as her fingers would probably be placed differently)? Or she just has an itchy back? Perhaps she’s puzzled as to why her bow isn’t steady enough, despite her best attempts to make a hand sign with her middle and index finger, rather than simply wrap them around her bow for grip.
Now, the second thing is the outfit.
I don’t have much against the outfit, although it does seem to be designed with sex appeal in mind more than practicality, but I’m not going to complain about that because there are other people who can point out the flaws far better than I can.
The main thing I have a problem with, is that she has greaves, but no other form of armour (unless you count the shoulder pads and bracelets, which I don’t). My advice would be to either remove that, or add armour elsewhere (but not something like a chainmail bikini, I mean something that’s actually practical rather than just shows off her boobs and/or arse) . Unless she’s really paranoid about being kicked in the shins more than she is about being, say, stabbed in the chest, then she’d prioritise wearing chest armour instead of greaves. They’d just slow her feet down and be heavy, whilst offering very little protection. If it turns out that it’s actually a very light and/or magic form of armour, then there’s still no reason why she shouldn’t have a breastplate and/or helmet.
Also, I doubt she has enough strength to draw back that bow, although I have a feeling that’d be explained away by it being a magic bow or something like that.
[Edit] Now I feel bad because this might be a bit too harsh of a rant, and it is fanart, so my rant about her armour is a bit obsolete, because they probably had nothing to do with the design (although I hear that apparently a lot of League of Legends characters are made by fans). Ah well, I still felt it needed to be said.
^ woah, sorry :/
Sorry, it’s just that it looks ok, but there’s a lot to improve and I kinda felt like ranting, but now I realise that a lot of it sounds pretty harsh because of how I said it. I should probably phrase it more like a constructive criticism rather than a rant.](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1dozqJ4DV1rs6p09o1_500.jpg)

More stuff for ‘If Only I’d Known’
WIP
-
Some art I’m doing for a project in Uni called “If Only I’d Known…..” Basically, we needed to think of advice that we wished we’d known before coming to Uni, which we would then use as a basis for a two page spread in a book (I think there was something about future students looking at it or something, but I forget).
Anyhoo, I couldn’t think of/forgot to prepare any advice, so I just used ‘Sapere aude’ a quote I’d found in a book about the enlightenment, which translates roughly as ‘Dare to know’, which I figured I could bullshit about to make it some form of advice that’d be relevant. In the end, I decided that it was about meeting people and experiences and not being afraid to just jump in and find out what happens, so I’ve started making ‘characters’ looking through or behind doors and windows as metaphors for people and experiences.

Another weird motion graphics video I did

Afternoon Matinee of the Day: The controversial documentary The Sweatbox, filmed by Sting’s wife Trudie Styler as part of a deal to feature her husband’s songs in the animated feature Kingdom of the Sun, has spent the last 10 years locked up deep inside Disney’s dungeons until it suddenly made its way online yesterday.
Never officially released in any form due to its less-than-flattering behind-the-scenes footage, the film follows the troubled production of what would eventually become The Emperor’s New Groove.
On the significance of The Sweatbox, Cartoon Brew says: “If any questions remain about why Disney fizzled out creatively and surrendered its feature animation crown to Pixar and DreamWorks, this film will answer them.”
Watch it while you can.

Reblogging for all my animation comrades.
Gah, don’t have time to watch this. Will watch later.

My half of the art trade with Superchalmers! I decided to draw the creature from ‘Creature From The Black Lagoon’. The face was just from doodling, but I liked it, so I kept it. Also, he has no legs because I couldn’t decide what to do with them.
Here’s Superchalmers’ one, which is pretty awesome.

Goddammit uni.
One of the things I hate about this uni is the friggin’ last minute e-mails/ notices. For example, last Thursday, we got e-mails saying that we’d be getting flat inspections in the next 2 weeks. On Sunday I then notice there’s a poster on the door saying that we’ll be getting them sometime between Monday and Thursday (this is either because I was being derp and didn’t notice the poster until then, or they’d only just put them up). Had the inspection yesterday, then noticed today that they’d sent an e-mail yesterday at about 11am (when the inspections had already been going on for about 2 hours) saying “Hey look! You’ve got flat inspections today!” as if it’d be helpful to us, as by this point we’d either a) had our inspection or b) were currently in the middle of an inspection.
They also tend to send e-mails about opportunities for volunteer work or various lectures pretty much the day before or the morning of the event. Goddammit it -
Just watched Metropolis and I really enjoyed it. It’s an old silent movie done in 19267 by german expressionist called Fritz Lang set in a dystopian future. Watch it!
[Edit] This is only part 1. Watch the other 5 parts on this guys youtube channel.
